About Rich Resources

We have called this area Rich Resources as it contains all kinds of resources contributed by members of AsiaCALL. In time, it will constitute a wonderful and extraordinarily rich knowledge base for all involved in CALL. This is because we hope it will contain much of the collected wisdom and experiences of the members of AsiaCALL. This area will, we hope, become one of the features of the AsiaCALL website.

Together with contributions to the journal, annual conferences and related forum discussions, we hope that this area will be able to contribute strongly to thinking about and implementing CALL in both Asian and World contexts.

Rich Resources provides an area where everyone can share reflections and research in a relatively formal way, without the constraints and delays of formal publications. It is a space where ideas can be bounced off other members of AsiaCALL. This is not unlike the notion of Working Papers.

It is also an area where members can share some of their past work and knowledge, by re-publishing material already published somewhere else, perhaps providing a link for access, or submitting unpublished presentations or work in progress.

While the area is not refereed in the sense that the journal is refereed, it is a place where everyone can present serious work that they are currently undertaking. Publishing material here will almost certainly not get you promotion. It will, however, contribute to generating excitement and progress in our work.

In addition to informal publication of one's current work and reflections, Rich Resources is conceived as a place where resources from everywhere can be accommodated. For instance, if you know of an interesting website or on-line journal, particularly with an Asian connection, then please submit it and it will be listed. In this way, we will be able to grow the CALL knowledge base.

Most importantly, in addition to work done by those of us who have been in the field of CALL for a long time, we are especially interested in serious contributions by newcomers to the field, and also by undergraduate and graduate students. We strongly encourage newcomers to the field, undergraduate and graduate students to contribute here (and of course to the journal as well if the material is publishable). If you have ideas which you would like to present and discuss in a formal manner (and there are many advantages in formal presentations) you are most welcome to do so.

At this stage, this area is not envisaged as a discussion area. It is a repository of rich resources: thoughts, interesting links and other materials. If you wish to enter a discussion on any of the issues raised here, our forum will provide a great opportunity for doing so. However, if the material is actually published on this site, there may be an opportunity, in addition to the forum, to enable the entry of comments on specific papers.

In addition to the above, Rich Resources gives everybody an opportunity to share interesting information that has been found. Of special importance, are Interesting links which could include journal articles, interesting websites etc. and the Asiacall Video Gallery. This gallery creates links to videos stored on Youtube and elsewhere and will include all kind of interesting video materials ranging from interviews with experts to workshops offered at AsiaCALL.

Together, all of these features will provide us with a wonderful opportunity to share information in a way which will be intellectually enriching.

So... this is YOUR area. To contribute to Rich Resources please click on the appropriate link in the dropdown menu.
