AsiaCALL was incorporated in Korea and is an organization registered with the Korea Research Foundation (Code Number KRF 8A0245).
The Founding President of AsiaCALL is Professor Dr. Larry Chong, a professor at Gyeongju University, R.O.K.. Professor Chong created AsiaCALL and organized the first AsiaCALL conference from 3-5 April 2002. The conference theme was "Information Technology and University Instruction in Asia". The conference was hosted in conjunction with Chulalongkorn University, Bangkok.
The 2nd AsiaCALL conference entitled "Information Technology and Language Education" was held in Bangkok from 2-4 December 2003 and was hosted by Rangsit University in collaboration with Rajabhat University, Phranakhon Sri Ayutthaya.
The 3rd AsiaCALL conference was hosted by Universiti Sains Malaysia in Penang from 22-24 November, 2004 at the Park Royal Hotel in Penang, Malaysia. The conference theme was: "Computers in Language Learning".
The 4th AsiaCALL conference was held in Korea and was hosted by Sorabol College, Gyeongju, R.O.K.. The central message was aptly entitled "CALL and New Learning Environments in ASIA".
The 5th AsiaCALL conference was held at the Universiti Putra Malaysia from 27-29 November, 2006. The conference theme was "Learning Environments: Congruence of Skills, Information and Technologies".
